WATER AND HEALTH

Doctors and science its self have told us that taking at least six glasses of water a day is healthy, and well some of us do that while others struggle to even get one glass of water down their throats.
With this rainy season it’s very important for us to ensure that we are very careful with the water we consume, because as much as its healthy if we do consume water that has not been treated then it will bring health issues. Now by treatment we really do not mean that you consume the bottled water from the shops and supermarkets, let’s be honest we have also heard cases where people consumed that water and ended up in hospitals.
Personally I think that some of the health problems we bring to ourselves are not because we can’t avoid them but because sometimes we are too reluctant to believe or take coition sometimes the preventive measures are just too easy for us and we still do not want to practice them. The water treatment or purification methods are just simple you do not need to carry out an industrial water treatment process for you to consider your water healthy you can simply boil your water or store it in a distiller and that water will be safe for consumption.
In as much as you have set your water storages you should also ensure that you clean them once in a while a good example is your water distiller ensure that you clean it since it serves also as a sieve that means with time the water is going to leave some residue behind and when that accumulates then your water will have no difference with the un purified water.
Kohler clarity a company located in south B distributes water filters and came to Ruben centre last year, they distribute to people from the disadvantaged parts of Kenya and also try and explain to them how important it is to ensure that your water is safe. “Partnering with Ruben centre has been of great importance to us, especially when we know that we are improving lives. Mukuru kwa Ruben was our first face project and though we are almost done we will still be available to bring the filters.” Says kelvin from Kohler clarity.
They have issued out over twenty five thousand water filters to the community and they say the feedback from the community is very positive. “You can imagine after issuing out all those water filters and the community did not have any positive feedback that would be distressing it would mean the project had failed.” Says valarie.
These filters are distributed at only one thousand Kenya shillings and they are long lasting and durable let us fight those disease that we have the strength to and keep ourselves and our families safe let us embrace good hygiene and save ourselves from hazards in the future like they say prevention is better than cure.
